However, residents and visitors need to be aware and take responsibility for actions which could be detrimental to our environment; after all we are merely custodians of a precious resource.

Welcome to Future Footprints, a charitable partnership championing sustainable tourism in the South West. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Future Footprints Project Comes to a Finish - Thank You for Your Support and Good Luck in the Future SSW will continue to support and advocate for more sustainable tourism in the South West and will be working with South West Tourism and others to further the sustainable tourism agenda in the region. Our work will include the development of a sustainability appraisal tool for tourism businesses. Further details of our work programme available on request. Future Footprints, a project of Sustainability South West(SSW) will cease to operate as a stand alone initiative as of April 2009.
How Sustainable Are We? The South West acccommodates more than 22 million visitor trips each year. Over 80% of our visitors arrive by car. Our visitors related spend is £8.9 billion. Sustainability South West believes that only by working together can we achieve a thriving sustainable tourism industry that satisfies the aspirations of visitors, businesses and the community without damaging the quality of the region's special environment.
